Board Races The Same http://wxpr.org/post/recounts-keep-three-oneida-co-board-races-same <p>Three close Oneida county board races after voting last week have not changed after a recount.</p><p>Voters April 1 elected incumbent Bob Mott in District 7 in the Pelican Lake area. After the recount requested by challenger Dennis Schoeneck, Mott picked up one vote to 187 to 180 for Schoeneck.</p><p>In District 16 in the Woodruff area after the recount, incumbent Michael Timmons had 114 votes with challenger Michael Pockat with 107. In District 2, Rhinelander alderman Tom Kelly declared as an official write in and won the county supervisory seat with 17 votes. Oneida County contracted with consultant Charles Carlson, who suggested pay scales built on market value and performance, rather than a time served basis. The adopted system enacts a new step system for non-supervisory jobs and performance based pay for supervisors. Tuesday the Oneida County Board of Supervisors officially killed it.</p><p>The county purchased 272 acres in the hopes of attracting modern manufacturers and young entrepreneurs. A feasibility study discovered problems getting enough tax revenue back and also access problems to the site. That rejection also had a bearing on the location of two county departments.</p><p>Mike Boyd's offers included Oneida county paying to use some of the office space he would construct.
