The Oneida County Board Tuesday agreed to negotiate a lease with Midwest Lease, LLC for the sale of the former WPS building near the courthouse.
The board met in closed session then announced they had authorized a number of county officials to negotiate a counter offer of $225,000 cash, with the building in "As is" condition and to close by March 31.
By a vote of 18-0, the Oneida County Board changed the way they compensate employees.
Following the enactment of ACT 10, governments have been formulating new pay approaches after collective bargaining for most public unions was eliminated. Oneida County contracted with consultant Charles Carlson, who suggested pay scales built on market value and performance, rather than a time served basis. The adopted system enacts a new step system for non-supervisory jobs and performance based pay for supervisors. It does put caps on some pay levels.
It's primary election day across the state. A few county and town races are on ballots. The most noteworthy vote comes in the Arbor Vitae-Woodruff school district.
The school board is asking voters to approve $975,000 over three years. The district recently paid off an $800,000 building debt. Officials say that repayment will nearly offset the referendum request.
