Langlade county officials have released the identity of a person found dead west of Antigo August 22nd.
Sheriff Bill Greening reports the skeletal remains were identified through dental records at 77 year old Leonard Allen Peth of Antigo. The remains were found at Western Road and Hazel Road just west of Antigo.
Sheriff Greening says the Langlade County Coroner has ruled the cause of death as undetermined, although no foul play is suspected. Peth was last seen in Antigo in February of 2013.
Cyclists can now enjoy over 30 miles of paved bike trails in Vilas County.
The town of Boulder Junction has finished an expansion of the bike trail system that connects Boulder Junction, Sayner and St. Germaine. Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Theresa Smith is hoping the expanded trail will be a boost for tourism.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department is opening a new office station at an elementary school. Deputies will use a room at the Northwoods Community Elementary School as a stopping point to take care of administrative tasks. No suspects will be brought to the location. County Sheriff Grady Hartman says the new office on Highway K will help the department have a stronger presence on the west side of the county.
“We get a high call volume especially around Highway 51. And we needed a place where the officers could stop or take care of personal business.”
