The person was found on a trail north of Highway 64 near a bicycle. So far, Langlade County authorities haven’t released any information other than to confirm a body was found on private property near Western Road and Hazel Road just west of Antigo, so we don’t know if the cause of death was related to the bicycle or something completely different. Dispatchers say Sheriff William Greening plans to release more information Friday morning.
The DNR heard from citizens Thursday in Tomahawk on proposed changes to it's shoreland zoning rules. Called NR-115, the rules...in collaboration with counties.. govern development along shorelines. The rules were revised in 2010 and county administrators said they were too burdensome to enforce. The revisions are now out for public comment.
The city of Rhinelander and the Oneida county board this week each passed resolutions hoping to jump start this region as a high-speed internet hot spot.
The county board resolved as a goal to make the county home to the best broadband opportunities of any rural county in Wisconsin. Later that day, the Rhinelander city council passed a similar resolution. The county board directed a committee to act as a conduit to Oneida County Economic Development for these matters.

Unemployment trends for the Northwoods have settled into traditional patterns with the rates coming down in most counties.
The state released local numbers this week. Iron county continues to have the second-highest rate at 11.2 percent. Forest county is at 9.1 percent, Lincoln and Langlade counties are at 8.7 percent. Oneida county's rate has fallen to 7.1 percent, and Price county has the lowest rate in the region at 6.2 percent.
Following a state of emergency declared in April about the growing use and distribution of illegal drugs on the reservation, the Lac du Flambeau Police Department began serving banishment notices from the Tribal Government to 55 non-tribal members known to be involved in illegal activities.
Tribal spokesperson Brandon Thoms says in declaring the state of emergency, law enforcement began a crackdown in June called "Operation Pandora" where a number of arrests were made....
A Northwoods chamber of commerce leader showed the impact tourism has to Oneida county's economy during a presentation this week to the county board.
Kim Baltus from Minocqua also is president of the Oneida County Tourism Council, which is a joint effort among several communities to cross-promote the county to potential visitors. In 2012, visitors spent almost $186 million dollars here...
"that's roughly a little over $5,000 for every man, woman and child in the county. That's a significant increase in spending over 2011..."
An advocacy group for Social Security and Medicare says their officials were surprised when they ran a report showing Wisconsin's 7th Congressional district has one of the highest impacts from Social Security in the nation.
After more than two hours debate, the Oneida county board failed to pass a resolution rejecting stronger DNR rules concerning non-porous or impervious surfaces. Those surfaces are roofs and sidewalks. Runoff water from those surfaces near lakes and rivers concern scientists about water pollution. Property rights advocates say the rules go too far telling owners what they can do with their land.
The vote tied at 10 with one supervisor absent, meaning the resolution died, not getting a majority.
