The Wisconsin Counties Association voted this week in disapproval of the state’s rejection of extra federal funding for Medicaid. Sarah Diedrick-Kasdorf, Senior Legislative Associate for Wisconsin Counties Association, says the vote reaffirmed a position the group has held since 2011.
“As counties, when we all have the same position, when we all talk from one voice, it really provides support for our issues.”

Two arrests during an early Wednesday raid at a residence in the town of Laona. Forest county deputies and Crandon Police arrested 37 year old Andrew Phillips and 19 year old Taylor Labarge when authorities came with a search warrant shortly after 2:00 a.m.
Phillips and LaBarge were arrested for delivery and possession of cocaine, possessing marijuana and keeping a drug house.
A Lac du Flambeau teenager has entered a plea to reduced charges concerning the stabbing of his mother's boyfriend.
17 year old Christian Soulier was arrested in January after an incident at his mother's boyfriend's home in Forest county. The victim was said to have been stabbed four times.
In court Tuesday Soulier pled no contest to an amended charge of aggravated battery. Soulier's attorney Suzanne O'Neal said Soulier could be waived back into juvenile court, but she waived that possibility to move forward with the amended charge.

A Rhinelander man has been bound over for trial for the shooting of a relative.
23 year old Marcus Alsteens is charged with attempted first-degree homicide for the August 12 incident at a home he shared with his uncle, Justin Alsteens. Police allege a fight over doing housechores led to the shooting.
