$10,000 Donation Buys Body Cameras For Minocqua Police

en.wikipedia.org

The St. Matthias Thrift Shop in Minocqua has given the Minocqua Police Department a donation of more than $10,000 to purchase body cameras.

Jan Degner manages the thrift shop. She says they received a written request from the police department....

"....I contacted committee members and they all thought it was a wonderful way for us to use some of our money to help the community so I contacted with Chief Jaeger and gave him a check to cover the cost of the 12 cameras to cover the department...."

The cameras record all the activity an officer sees during a shift and can be valuable for follow ups on activity.

Police Chief David Jaeger says the donation speaks volumes for the folks at St. Matthias.

Degner says all the extra money from the sales at the Thrift Shop go back into the community. She says last year those donations were more than $280,000.
