$2 Million Donation To Maintain Manitowish Waters Bike Trails

Wikimedia Commons Tomwsulcer

A $2 million dollar endowment has been set up to preserve bike trails in the Manitowish Waters area.

Liz and Dick Uihlein notified town chair John Hanson they've established the endowment trust fund that will provide maintenance funds form bike trails in Manitowish Waters.

Hanson details the gift...

"....the Uilheins had previously agreed to fund all maintenance and repair of the trails in their life times, which they are doing, after which the endowment will provide for maintenance and repairs, hopefully for a very long time. Manitowish Waters Bike Trail, Inc., led by Dale White and Henry Bauers, will contract for services and request reimbursement from the endowment as expenses are incurred. This is another in a series of extraordinary gifts the Uihleins have given to our town. This will assure the maintenance cost of the trails in Manitowish Waters will never be a burden to the taxpayers...."

Hanson says the Uihlein's also provided the funding for trails. There are approximately 8 miles of trails in the Manitowish Waters area and Hanson says more are in the plans.
