Agencies Organize Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive

A coalition of agencies is collecting personal hygiene products to distribute to people facing homelessness.

The Help for the Homeless Hygiene Drive is underway and runs through mid-March, organized by the Northern Wisconsin Initiative to Stop Homelessness, or N*WISH.

As Housing Case Manager at Forward Service Corporation Penny Huffman explains, there will be drop off-points set up in Vilas, Langlade, Forest and Oneida counties.

“They’ll see boxes out at the community. They’ll be boxes at Walgreens and Shopko and some other local businesses. We’ll have a box here at the Job Center.”

The drive is collecting products like laundry soap, cleaning supplies and hair or dental care items.

Donated items will stay within each county, and be distributed by local crisis agencies.

Last year the drive collected $7000 worth of products.

The drive runs through March 15th.
