Arbor Vitae Man Charged As Part Of LDF Man's Death

Vilas County Sheriff's Dept.

A 27 year old Arbor Vitae man has been charged in relation to the death of Wayne Valliere, Jr.

The 25-year-old Valliere was found dead on New Year's Day and suspects are awaiting charges for the death in Iron county. But Vilas county officials have charged Evan Oungst with harboring a felon and obstructing an officer in relation to Valliere's death.

Oungst had spoken with law enforcement twice late in December about Valliere's disappearance. He said he had been at a party.

A criminal complaint alleges Valliere was with a group in the Powell Marsh Area near Lac du Flambeau. Oungst later told police everyone in the van except him got out and Valliere never came back. Oungst is said to have tried to find Valliere's body on December 31. Valliere's body was found New Year's Day in Iron county. Oungst was arrested the next day.

He is jailed on a $2,500 cash bond. Another defendant, Richard Allen, is jailed in Iron county on a $1 million bond. Oungst will be in court again next week.
