Arnold to Depart as WXPR Station Manager

WXPR Public Radio will be looking for a new general manager.  Peg Arnold will be leaving the station September 3rd, after two and a half years as station manager.

She says she’s proud of some of the initiatives she’s helped start at WXPR.

“The things that I’m excited about are the programs here at WXPR. The new website through NPR digital services, the community features program, and Live from the White Pine.”

She also led the station’s move to a new building in downtown Rhinelander.

Arnold leaves to head Utah Public Radio, a role that also comes with an assistant professorship at Utah State University, teaching journalism and communications.

Before joining the team at WXPR, Arnold came from a development background at Wyoming Public Radio.  She took over from longtime station manager Mick Fiocchi in January 2012.

Arnold says she’s confident WXPR will continue to strengthen its membership and community impact.

“In terms of continuing to grow, continuing to build our membership and our offerings, to expand our programming and ways that we reach people and engage with the wonderful thing called public radio.”

Arnold says she’s leaving the station in good hands.  WXPR News Director Ken Krall will serve as interim station manager during the hiring process, with Development Director Jessie Dick as Vice President.
