Arrests Made In Lac Du Flambeau Man's Death In Iron County

The Vilas County Sheriff's Department updated the information on 25 year old Wayne Vallilere's death, saying his body was found Jan. 1, 2018 in Iron county.

Five suspects were taken into custody concerning the death.

The Iron County District Attorney is handling the prosecution along with an Assistant Attorney General. Several agencies were involved in the investigation including the Sheriff's Departments in Vilas, Ashland, Forest, Iron, Lincoln and Oneida, the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police, Milwaukee Police and the Wisconsin State Patrol. The state Department of Criminal Investigation is conducting an investigation into the death of a Lac du Flambeau man missing since late December. Lac du Flambeau Tribal President Joseph Wildcat, Sr. confirmed the death of 25 year old Wayne Valliere who was last seen December 22. Wildcat said in a prepared statement that they were heartbroken at the loss of one of their tribal members. He asked the public to give the family the space and time they need to grieve.

State investigators would not confirm to WJFW TV the nature of their investigation. The Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police and the Vilas, Forest, and Iron county sheriff's offices were helping with the investigation. The Department of Justice is asking anyone with information to contact the Vilas County Sheriff's office.
