ArtStart in Rhinelander begins their fifth anniversary year as a community arts center with a gala event February 12 and they would like the community to join them. Spokesperson Melinda Childs says the event is designed for a good time...
"....it's really a celebration. We're going to have the Central Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble playing some danceable music,probably some Big Band, Swing and some standards. That's maybe the highlight is dinner and dancing, but it will be a fun party...."
Childs joined the ArtStart staff a year and a half ago and says the spirit of the group and the community was impressive...
"it was so impressive to see the work of the volunteers and the board and all the community donations that built ArtStart from the ground up. That brought me to Rhinelander. It was the dedication and the love of the community for an organization like ArtStart...."
ArtStart is located in the former Federal building on Stevens Street in downtown Rhinelander.
Childs says the dinner is based on an Italian theme and will have a number of raffles, including Packers tickets, along with live and silent auction items. The gala is being held at the Northwoods Banquet Center on Pueblo Drive in Rhinelander. Childs says tickets are still available.
