ATV Club Wants To Run Trail Through Woodboro Lakes Area

Wisconsin DNR

The Nokomis ATV Club is asking for an ATV/UTV trail to be allowed across the southeast portion of the Woodboro Lakes Wildlife Area off Highway "K" west of Rhinelander. The DNR is holding an open house to get public input on the proposed trail.

DNR Woodboro Lakes Wildlife Area manager Jeremy Holtz...

?

"....so we're asking folks to get more information, learn about the request, attend the meeting and share their opinions..."

?

Woodboro Lakes is a forested 3,000 acre property about 10 miles west of Rhinelander. The property contains six small, shallow lakes that don't have game fish. It also has an extensive network of walking trails and lightly developed roads. ATV's currently are not allowed. He says prior to the meeting later this month the public can find out more on the proposal on the DNR website or at the DNR office on Sutliff Avenue...

?

"....this is just the start of a process...nothing has been approved or denied...we're just going to be collecting input...starting a process of review. Then we'll have another meeting at the end of the process to wrap things up and advance our decision to the Natural Resources Board...."

Another option is to email Holtz at Jeremy.Holtz@Wisconsin .gov

The open house will be Thursday February 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Northwoods Coummunity Elementary School on Highway "K" in Harshaw. The public comment period ends February 28.
