It's been almost five months since the body of Luann Beckman, 47 was found in a wooded area near Noseeum Lake behind Northwoods Village Apartments in Phelps. She was last seen on Sunday, May 15 at the Phelps Convenience Center a little after 7:00 pm.

Vilas County Chief Deputy Patrick Schmidt has distributed a poster around the county and especially in the Phelps area asking if persons may have information related to Beckman's death to call the Sheriff's department.

“We have received a number of phone calls and we're still waiting for a lot of the forensic evidence collected to be analyzed by the state crime lab,” Schmidt said. “We continue to work the case and if people may have any information, no matter if they think it is not significant, to please give us a call.”

Sheriff Joe Fath earlier indicated that have questioned up to 15 persons and the cause of death has not been released. Schmidt said there are two phone numbers people can use anonymously at  1- 800-782-7463 or 1-800-78-CRIME. There is a reward if the information supplied leads to an arrest and conviction.
