Fire early Monday morning destroyed the Horant family business and home in Eagle River. Friends are holding a community appreciation dinner Sunday evening hosted by Butch and Kim Simac.

Kim Simac says they're holding the dinner at their Kula Ranch at 3:00 P.M. She says the Horants have been important to many in the area...

"....immediately when this happens everybody wants to know what they can do to help. Mary and Leo have been the kind of people who have been there for all of us through good times and bad. When something like this happens you just want to figure out what you can do to help them out,  so we just came up with the idea and let it ride...."

Kim Simac says they're accepting donations to help out the Horants with the expenses that always occur during a tragedy like this.

Simac says guest should bring a lounge chair and  a dish to pass. Coffee, lemonade and tea provided.

Simac's Kula Ranch is located at 3860 Kula Vista Road, south on U.S. 45, Eagle River.
