Building Changes At Nicolet College In Rhinelander

Nicolet Area Technical College

Building changes at Nicolet College.

The Board of Trustees Monday approved the moving of the Art Gallery in the Learning Resources Center to a renovated space within the Northwoods Center. The LRC building will be also undergoing changes. College President Dr. Richard Nelson describes the move....

"....the board approved an expenditure of just over $100,000 from our operating funds to relocate the Art Gallery to the Northwoods Center next to the Top of the Hill restaurant, put in some new moveable walls for hanging and some state-of-the art LED lighting...."

The Gallery move is expected to be completed in time to have shows ready this fall. Nelson says the Art Gallery move can be done with minimal outside contracting. Nelson says while that work is going on, renovation inside the LRC building will be done in three stages. The bottom floor will have first renovation completed by August 8....

"....it's got the cafe and some of the services they need to have on the opening day(of school). The first floor will be open August 8, so that's a couple of weeks before classes start...."

The second floor, which includes a student information commons and bookstore will be open on August 18. Nelson says the LRC theater renovation is targeted to be done in October. Nelson says by delaying the theater rebuild they were able to bring the bids in under budget.
