Call For Artists To Make DNR Wildlife Stamps

Wisconsin DNR Caleb Metrich

Artist have a chance to get their artwork viewed in many different places as the state has opened up competition for the 2019 Turkey, Pheasant and Waterfowl Stamp designs.

Jaqi Christopher is a DNR upland wildlife assistant....

"....they're paintings, they're drawings, there's specifications on size and the species. We obviously want the artwork to reflect turkeys and turkey habitat, pheasants and waterfowl found in the state of Wisconsin...."

Funds derived from the sale of the stamps contribute to restoration and management efforts on thousands of acres of important wildlife habitat..

"...Everyone who hunts turkey, pheasants or waterfowl needs to purchase the Wisconsin state stamp. All of that money goes into a fund to help habitat work. So throughout the state. Different organizations can use the money to develop or maintain different habitats for those species...."

In last year's contests, Caleb Metrich of Lake Tomahawk(Oneida county) was awarded first place in the Waterfowl Stamp contest.
