The Rhinelander Area Food Pantry and the Rouman Cinema are sponsoring their 6th annual CANtastic event, but are in need of more teams. CANtastic is a competition area businesses showcase their talents by constructing sculptures made with canned foods. The creations are judged based on color, creativity and complexity. Director Guy Hansen says this year’s theme is “drive out hunger,” and all food used will be donated to the food pantry.
“…as they’re on display for two weeks, folks can come into the theater; you don’t need a ticket if you’re just going in to look at the structures, and vote by putting a can of food in the box of their favorite structure. So we have the people’s choice, the most used cans following the theme and judges choice…”
Hansen says there’s one entry for this year’s build. The competition is open to any group or organization in the Rhinelander area. For more information or team registration forms visit the food pantry’s website.
