Care Packages Sent to Overseas Military

AT&T is donating money to help send care packages to U.S. Troops deployed overseas.

The nonprofit Military Support group is mailing nearly 50 packages to U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan.

AT&T Spokesperson Jessica Erickson says the company announced the $2250 award Saturday at the Veterans Center in Rhinelander.

“There’s actually going to be volunteers, as well as Representative Rob Swearingin, that are going to be on hand packing care packages, so we’re going to be packing probably about 30 tomorrow.”

AT&T will also announce the results of the Cell Phone collection to benefit soldiers…that has been ongoing in Rhinelander for the past month.  Erickson says the drive collected over 300 phones.

“And so we’re very excited about the results of that drive. And for every phone that is donated, Cell Phones for Soldiers is able to provide 30 minutes of free talk time to deployed soldiers. So we’re very grateful to the Rhinelander area.”

The Cell Phones for Soldiers drive began Memorial Day weekend.
