Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Service Honors Veterans

commons.wikimedia.org

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is waiving fees at most of its day-use recreation sites in honor of Veterans Day.  Public Affairs Officer Dave Melancon says day-use fees will be waived at all standard amenity fee sites operated by the U.S. Forest Service. He says it’s a way to encourage veterans and their families to take advantage of the outdoors.

“…this is the forest service’s way of thanking veterans for their service, and to give them an opportunity to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.”

Melancon says the fee waivers will cover recreational areas such as picnic areas, developed parking and destination visitor centers.  For more information visit www.fs.usda.gov/cn
