Many people in the Northwoods volunteer for a variety of natural resources citizen-science programs.
A meeting next month in Eau Claire is designed to talk about their work, stewardship and educational efforts and volunteers are welcomed.
The Wisconsin Summit for Natural Resources Volunteers is a three-day event. Wisconsin Master Naturalist Program Director Becky Sapper says the event is for volunteers across the state...
"...the idea of this joint conference is to bring people together from across the state so we can network and share ideas and build partnerships that are related to volunteering in the natural resources realm across the state. We are really interested in promoting the work of our existing volunteers and helping them to continue to learn because our volunteers are lifelong learners...."
The summit begins Thursday, March 22. Sapper says there are a number of sessions for volunteers to attend on the first day..
"....everything from looking at Wisconsin frog and toad surveys, to winter tree ID, rare plant monitoring, monarch larvae monitoring...a variety of different programs people can participate in on Thursday...."
The keynote speaker Friday is Julia Robson from the Milwaukee County Parks who will talk about her trek across Wisconsin to support Great Lakes efforts along with 40 different presentations. In the evening will be an awards banquet. Saturday has 20 more talks and workshops.
