Comment Sought On Willow Flowage Master Plan Update

commons.wikimedia.org

The public is invited to an upcoming open house to comment on four remaining issues in the proposed Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area Master Plan.

The area in western Oneida county is a popular recreation destination, offering a variety of activities. A first round of public comment helped prepare a draft master plan but has left four key areas the DNR would like to hear more input says Willow Flowage property manager Tom Shockley.

The first includes boundary modifications that would allow growth in the local community...says Shockley...

"....which would establish a boundary exclusion zone where the state would consider selling land to allow a local township to grow it's residential base. Additional options for the Iron Gate Road.  The third issue is length of stay on some newly proposed campsites located along the Tomahawk River. The final issue involves the possibility of developing a new, deep water boat landing on the property's west side...."

In informational open house is set for Wednesday, February 10 at the Nokomis town hall. The public can also submit comments online on the DNR website.
