Conservation Fund Finds Support In All 50 States

en.wikipedia.org

A Foundation to preserve the outdoors has seen donations from across the U.S., two Canadian provinces and the Armed Services.

The Cherish Wisconsin Outdoors Fund has brought in $90,000 since it's beginning in 2013. The legislature created the fund to protect, restore and imprve habitat for Wisconsin's plants and animals.

Lindsay Renick Mayer from Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin says the Cherish Fund was established in cooperation with the DNR and the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin..

"....donations to this fund provides habitat management for our state-managed conservation lands, so that includes state parks, state natural areas, state widelife areas and state fisheries..."

Renick Mayer  says donations have come in from all 50 states...

".....that's right, this is a great time to show your love for Wisconsin's wild areas, natural areas. There are a number of ways people can donate...."

The bulk of those funds came from $2 donations from the purchase of hunting and fishing licenses, and state park stickers and trail passes through DNR's Automated License Issuance System. More than 25,000 individuals agreed to give at least $2 when prompted during registration. Donations also came in from campers reserving campsites through Reserve America, on the Cherish Fund's website and in the form of planned gifts to the Natural Resources Foundation. More information is on two websites, wisconservation.org or  cherishwisconsin.org
