Crews Fixing More Storm Damage In The Northwoods

Pete Rondello

Portions of northern Wisconsin werehit hard by storms last night and many WPS customers were without power in the Harshaw, Natural Lakes and Nokomis areas. As of 11:00am today(7/22) crews reported 30 broken poles, 26 of which were from Minocqua and Tomahawk. Poles can take anywhere from 3-5 hours to repair causing restoration delays.

WPS spokesperson, Lisa Prunty says crews have already restored power to over 31,500 customers impacted by the severe storms that passed through their service territory late this week.  Prunty says most remaining outages have been taken care of in the Minocqua and Tomahawk areas. Significant damage to poles, wires, and twisted trees are slowing cleanup and restoration efforts. In these areas we expect to have customers restored Friday.
