Detours Will Change Rhinelander's Driving Week

The Independence Day holiday, a parade that has been moved to the courthouse area, travelers for the holiday and the upcoming Hodag Country Music Festival plus downtown construction on main streets makes for a very interesting time if you're driving.

Rhinelander Street Superintendent Tony Gilman says if you go on the Rhinelandercityhall.org website, there is a map for parking if you are going to the parade....

"....what we've done to try to combat some of the traffic congestion is we've placed a map on the rhinelandercityhall.org website. There's two different maps. There's a link for 4th of July Parade parking...."

Gilman says if you go to the city hall webpage or the Rhinelander Police Department Facebook page, Country Fest travelers can find how to get out to the grounds in Pine Lake...

"...this will direct them around the construction area primarily. We know people will need to pick up supplies before going to the Hodag. They will be able to access those areas from the outskirts of town. It would be recommended they follow the music festival signs placed along major highways around town...."

At least 20,000 people are expected into the area this week. The Rhinelander Parade this morning begins at 11 a.m. with the Kiddie Parade at 10:00 a.m.
