Dick Timmons, Long Time Publisher, WXPR Volunteer, To Be Honored

WXPR

The Wisconsin Newspaper Association will honor long time newspaper publisher and WXPR volunteer Dick Timmons in a ceremony next week in Eagle River.

Timmons' name will be enshrined on the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation Memorial Pylon at Trees For Tomorrow.

Timmons spent 46 years in the newspaper business, last publishing the Rhinelander Daily News until 1998. After his retirement, among many other activities, Dick became the Thursday host for "Midday Classics" on WXPR, a volunteer spot he held until his death in 2014.

The memorial is named for newspaper publishers who have passed away and left behind their legacies of service to the communities and to the Wisconsin newspaper industry.

The public is welcome to attend the ceremony at 11:30 a.m.  September 18 at Trees For Tomorrow in Eagle River.
