Digger's Hotline Celebrates 40 Years on 8-11

diggershotline.com

Digger’s Hotline is celebrating 40 years Thursday and hopes that tomorrow’s date, 8-11 will remind residents to call 811 before completing digging.

Manager of Public Relations, Chad Krueger says digging before calling can have serious consequences.

“If you don’t call before you dig, you risk hurting yourself, hurting your neighbors, your home. Cutting service to your neighbors and your home. Putting a shovel through an electric line is a very dangerous thing and damaging a natural gas line can also be very dangerous if that gas ignites somehow.”

Krueger says people who dig before they call usually damage their communication lines, and service to their cable tv or internet.

Digger’s Hotline is a free service that tells people where their utility and communication lines are so they’re not damaged during digging projects.

For more information visit the Digger’s Hotline website or call 811.
