Disagreement Over Eagle River Storm Sewer Pipe

commons.wikimedia.org

Connections to Eagle River's storm sewer from the proposed $2.5 million expansion and renovation of the Walter E. Olson memorial library generated a vigorous debate between the city council and library architect Jeff Visner Tuesday.

The council voted to install a 24-inch storm sewer and to require all connections be open and above ground with no connections directly to the storm sewer.

The city found a six inch underground line from current library roof runoff directly to the storm sewer and would require a hold harmless agreement between the city and library if any direct connection continued.

Visner said that won't happen saying they would like to maintain the six-inch line.

The council voted to have the city crew install the 24-inch line and that no direct connections be allowed.
