en.wikipedia.org

A town chairman says they will sit down as a board soon and discuss the state's construction options for U.S.51.

Tuesday evening, the Department of Transportation held a public information session on a proposed road upgrade between 3rd Street and state Highway 70 in the towns of Woodruff and Arbor Vitae. The state presented a series of options.. Minocqua had its portion redone this year. Hazelhurst in Oneida county also is in the construction cue.

Woodruff Chairman Michael Timmons says the board will meet soon...

?

"...we'll talk about it. DOT is going to bring back its' plans sometime later this summer and actually show us what they are going to do...."

Hazelhurst and, Woodruff in Oneida county and Arbor Vitae in Vilas county objected to initial plans by the DOT. The state says "51" has deteriorating curb and gutter, storm sewer drainage needs upgrading, left-turns need improved safety, and the busy main intersections need work.

Timmons says the state promised to come talk to business owners about access during construction....

?

"....one thing DOT did promise is they would talk to everybody on the issue of access one-on-one when the appropriate time comes...."

The state says the project is scheduled for 2017.
