The Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting later this month to look at construction of U.S. 51 in Woodruff and Arbor Vitae.

While work in Minocqua happened last year, Woodruff and Arbor Vitae officials have questioned the D.O.T. plans.

DOT spokesperson Kristin McHugh says they want to talk about the current and future needs of the federal route...

?

"....so we want to talk about some of the needs we've identified, some of the needs they may have identified, and some of the preliminary proposed alternatives...that we've identified..."

McHugh says it's a chance for the public to talk about how they are using the highway and their needs. Some of the identified needs the state has identified include work on the curb, gutter and sewer drainage system. The traffic demands at the intersections of U.S. 51 with state highways 47 and 70...some data that includes problems making left turns and the needs of the Lakeland Sanitary District.

An improvement project is tentatively set for 2017. The meeting is Tuesday, February 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Arbor Vitae-Woodruff Elementary School(AV-W) on Old Highway 51 in Woodruff.
