Downtown Minocqua Detour Thursday Morning

en.wikipedia.org

Traffic in downtown Minocqua will be re-routed Thursday morning as a large crane will fill one block doing installation work.

Minocqua town chair Mark Hartzheim says one of the larger commercial buildings downtown, the Gaslight Square has a number of large HVAC units on their roof, and  three of them have failed...

"...they need to get those replaced. One of the issues they've had, the way the alleys laid out, there's so many overhead utility lines that a crane is not able to access the rooftop from the rear...."

Hartzheim says DOT approval was needed to temporarily  close the road....

"....they had to pursue a unique option with the DOT and close a portion of that block down to traffic and get the crane on Main Street to reach over the front of the roof and set them down from the street side..."

So the best spot to install the units will be with the crane on the southbound lane of U.S. 51. The detour will take place beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending during the noon hour. Traffic will turn right at Oneida and West Milwaukee streets, turning left on Flambeau Street, then to West Chicago Avenue and right onto Oneida Street.
