Downtown Streetscape Project on Schedule; Next Phase Starting Soon

en.wikipedia.org

Despite the unfavorable weather conditions and some rock underground the downtown streetscape project is progressing as planned. That’s according to Public Works Director Tim Kingman and Mark Barden of Town and Country Engineering.

Construction started April 1 and focused on Davenport and Courtney Streets. Kingman says the project is moving east into Rhinelander with the most recent closings being the section of North Brown Street from Davenport up to Rives.

“..We also closed down Davenport Street further into Stevens Street at the same time and they’ve concentrated their work on that; the early stages of the project. There was a small intersection closed on Rives Street where they did a bunch of storm sewer utility work, and they’re bringing that to close.”

Barden says the next phase will start soon...

“…They may have concrete and asphalt up to Anderson Street. The next phase once we pass the first block of Brown, they’re going to the North side of Brown up to Frederick. We anticipate that starting in the next two weeks; that next block of Brown.”

Barden says they’ll have 3 months to finish the section of Brown Street. He says they’ll start on Rives in June and Stevens and the streets south of Davenport in July.
