A nationally-recognized historian and supporter of Hillary Clinton stopped in Rhinelander Thursday to stump for the Democratic presidential candidate.
Dr. Allida Black has written four books about Eleanor Roosevelt and is considered an expert on the nation's 32nd First Lady and is a friend of Clinton's, the 42nd First Lady. Black says she first met Clinton in 1992, and says the public and private person are very different, saying she is the 'most unknown known person in the United States'...
"...we all say, 'you can't knock Hillary down, you can't hold her back'. What we're also saying is you cannot limit or control the depth of her love for America and that is what I hope the country sees in the last few weeks of this campaign..."
Black says Clinton would like to have the ability to not only shape public policy like Eleanor Roosevelt did, but would like put it into practice...
"....Hillary not only gets Eleanor, she's able to put into a policy world the dreams she and Eleanor share.... "
Black is Director and Editor, The Eleanor Roosevelt Papers, compiling the public record of Eleanor Roosevelt. She also has been a professor at George Washington University. Black says she quit her job in 2013 to organize for Clinton.
