Nicolet Area Technical College

After a meeting Thursday evening, the Nicolet College Board of Trustees has picked their top candidate to become the next college president.. Nicolet Board Chair Ron Zimmerman give us more details...

?

"....the board chose to pursue the candidate Dr. Richard Nelson as our next president of Nicolet College, contingent on a site visit. We're trying to make arrangements to go to New York and visit the college he's at, talk to some people out there and see how that goes...."

?

Dr. Nelson is currently the Provost of Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smiths, New York, a position he's had since 2006. Prior to that, he was employed at the University of Minnesota-Crookston where he served as Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs.

Nicolet's current interim President, Dr. Kenneth Urban, and Human Resources Director Dr. Dan Groleau were also finalists for the job. Antigo native Dr. Joseph Fleishman and Dr. Ron Erickson were also finalists.

Zimmerman says the full board will convene to consider Dr. Nelson's employment as President at Nicolet after they return from the Paul Smith's College visit.

Elizabeth Burmaster left the presidency at Nicolet last summer after five years to take a college presidency position in Maryland.
