en.wikipedia.org

An Eagle River man has been identified as the person killed Tuesday in Lincoln county after a high speed chase that began in Antigo.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department identified the person killed as 50 year old Scot A. Minard of Eagle River.

The Sheriff's office says Antigo Police made a traffic stop Tuesday morning. The officer was allegedly shot at by Minard, who left at a high rate of speed.

Antigo Police and Langlade County Sheriff's deputies began a chase that went about 20 miles west into Lincoln county. There, deputies put a tire deflation device on Hillview Road in the Town of Pine River.

Minard's vehicle crossed the spikes, blowing out the tires. Deputies say the suspect remained armed for an hour before eventually firing his weapon. Four law enforcement officers returned fire and Minard was shot and killed.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation , at the request of three law enforcement agencies, has been leading the investigation of the incident.

Two Lincoln County deputies, a Langlade County deputy and an Antigo Police Officer, Joseph Husnick are on paid administrative lead pending the outcome of the state investigation.
