Elcho Voters To Decide Two School Ballot Questions

Elcho School District

Elcho School District voters will have two referendum questions before them when they go to the polls on Tuesday.

One question asks whether to allow up to $18 million dollars to repair school buildings. Superintendent Bill Fisher outlines what the money for that question will do....

".....to address the aging boilers, electrical, plumbing, roofs, parking issues that we have, in addition to some structural issues with the 1938 part of our building...."

Fisher says an engineer and architects went through the facilities and the ballot question is the result of that study...

".....we had an engineer go through our building, we also contracted with SDS architects to do a facilities study and the facility issues we are addressing are things that were hightlighted as a result of the facilities study....."

The second question asks to exceed the state revenue limits for $500,000 a year for four years beginning next school year for operations.

Fisher says they have had 10 public meetings leading up to Tuesday's vote to explain what the questions are in detail. More information about the referendum is on the Elcho School District website.
