Two persons are facing  possible charges in the Upper Peninsula after an explosion not far from the Michigan-Wisconsin border.

In a press release from the Michigan State Police, Troopers from the Iron Mountain Post  were called to residence in Mastadon Township Wednesday afternoon. Troopers report two people allegedly attempted to bring down a structure using large amounts of tannerite and fireworks. Commercial grade fireworks, a large quantity of tannerite and "pipe bomb" type explosives were seized. Tannerite is the brand name of a binary explosive marketed primarily for making exploding targets for firearms practice.

The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad from Gaylord was brought in to dispose of the explosives. State Troopers report charges are being sought against the two unidentified persons. Michigan DNR also assisted at the scene.
