A fire Thursday morning in the town of Harrison, Lincoln county destroyed a home. Traffic had to be detoured for seven hours.
The Lincoln County Sheriff reports a garage along State Highway 17 Rhinelander was on fire about 4:15 this morning. The attached home had caught fire when authorities arrived to put out the blaze. The family escaped the burning structure with no injuries. Fire units from the towns of Crescent, Newbold, Pelican, Russell and the city of Rhinelander fought the blaze.
Highway 17 returned to normal traffic about noon.
Also, a former Merrill man considered by authorities to be one of the "most wanted" in Lincoln county has been arrested.
Christopher Meindel did not appear in Lincoln County Circuit Court for a methamphetamine distribution charge last May. Meindel had been linked to 46 meth labs in the town of Corning in 2012 and last year. Meindel was arrested early Thursday at the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee. He faces charges in Milwaukee county for weapon and drug possession and will eventually be brought to Lincoln county for charges.
