Wisconsin Public Service

As part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation has given money to local pantries and a shelter.

Leah VanZile from WPS says area food pantries and homeless shelter were granted...

?

"....the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation to three area food pantries, the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, the Lakeland Area Food Pantry and the Vilas Food Pantry along with a thousand dollar donation to the homeless shelter, NATH, at Frederick Place..."

Weatherization kits were also provided by the Foundation.

Van Zile says the WPS Foundation is a non-profit corporation that began in 1964 as a way to help non-profits in their service area...

?

"....it's a separate entity from the utility, there are no rate payers monies going to the Foundation, it's a completely separate entity. It's set up to support service organizations in our service area that are involved in.....arts and culture, community and neighborhood development..education..human services and health...and environment..."

The food supplier for many food pantries....Feeding America...reports one of every six Americans have food security issues
