The Forest County Potawatomi has partnered with Nicolet Area Technical College for a continuing education program called the Professional Communications Certification. Tribal Spokesperson George Ermert…
“…this is a way where the tribe looked at some ways that we can ensure we are getting the most effort out of our employees and also better themselves. Are they getting that by just going to conferences, or is there something better can do.”
Ermert says tribal employees commit to a 10 week course aimed to better oral and written communication skills, technical reporting and grant writing.
Potawatomi Childcare Program Manager Billie Leach is one of 20 employees who will be graduating with the certificate next month, and says the program has polished her oral and written communication skills.
“…learning the different audiences, how you would word things, how it would come across to other people… “
This is the first year the tribe is offering the class, and is offering it to employees for free. Employees will graduate May 11 with their certificate.
