Former Lac du Flambeau Man Sentenced To Three Years In Prison

Creative Commons

A former Lac du Flambeau man has been sentenced to prison on reduced charges of fraud and racketeering.

53 year old Kevin Dean Maulson was sentenced Thursday in Vilas County Circuit Court to three years in prison and 15 years extended supervision.

Maulson was first charged in 2008 with 14 counts. The original criminal complaint alleges 10 individuals or businesses invested about $1.2 million in Maulson’s company, AmeriCash Inc. but were never repaid.

In 2010 a deal was reached where Maulson would plead guilty to three counts. Judge Neal Nielsen ordered Maulson in 2010 to pay back more than a million dollars as restitution. Late last year, Judge Nielsen agreed to a motion by Special Prosecutor Martin Lipski that Maulson had not made the payments he was ordered to make by the court in 2010.
