Former Lt. Governor Says Clinton Will Produce Campaign Finance Reform

en.wikipedia.org

Wisconsin's former Democratic Lt. Governor has added her voice condemning Donald Trump for calling America's elections as "rigged".

Barbara Lawton stopped in Rhinelander Saturday to campaign for Hillary Clinton.

Lawton says Trump's statement has brought condemnation from both parties....

"....he has been undermining the confidence in the health of our nation and undermining our confidence in the integrity of our elections when there is no evidence that this ever happened, to me is an outrageous dirty trick...."

Lawton says Clinton favors overturning the U.S. Supreme Court decision on campaign financing commonly known as "Citizens United"....

"....(Clinton) understands that that's not enough. We need to address how we finance campaigns so we have competitive races. So people not only running for office but serving in office don't have to be looking to their donors for the political agenda, but looking to their voters...."

In 2014 Lawton was named the President and CEO of Americans for Campaign Reform, an advocacy organization based in Washington D.C. chaired by former Senators Bill Bradley, Bob Kerrey , and Alan Simpson The organization advocates for public funding of federal elections.

Lawton was Lt. Governor of Wisconsin from 2003-2011.
