Gas Analyst Says Don't Fret Over Recent Price Jump

en.wikipedia.org

Average retail gas prices in Wisconsin have risen nearly 2.5 cents per gallon in the past week and about 20 cents within the last month, averaging about $2.40 per gallon. That’s according to Gas Buddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski. He says the recent price hike shouldn’t panic summer travelers…

“…But what’s especially important for your region is that most of the Great Lakes area has seen a much more significant price increases and that’s largely due to refinery and pipeline issues, the most notable being the Marathon Refinery in Detroit; that’s about 144,000 barrels a day..”

Laskoski says the statewide average is up 2 cents per gallon to $2.40, and has risen about 4 cents per gallon nationwide to $2.36. He says prices in Wisconsin are about 32 cents a gallon less than what they were a year ago.
