Gov. Walker Says Picture With Indicted Woman Was Routine Photo Snap

Governor Scott Walker is downplaying a photo showing him with a woman who has been charged with being a Russian agent.

During a campaign stop Tuesday at Nicolet College where he met with students and staff, Walker told reporters that type of photo is routine...

"...This was no meeting. It was somebody who, as I do every day, I just did it in their class, where I take pictures of people all the time who come up meet me, say hi, take a picture. We did that years ago like we do today. There's nothing more to it than that. Just taking a picture with someone who comes up to say 'hi'....

Maria Butina was arrested by federal agents Monday and charged with conspiracy to act as an unregistered agent of the Russian government. She is accused of trying to infiltrate American political organizations like the N-R-A. She attended Walker's presidential campaign launch event in 2015 and posted the picture being questioned.
