Grant Improves Signage At Washburn Silent Sports Area

en.wikipedia.org

A grant by the Rhinelander Women's Club has aleady helped those who use the Washburn Silent Sports Area about eight miles west of Rhinelander.

The club donated $500 to Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association. Trails spokesperson Guy Hansen says the money has already been put to good use...

"....metal maps posted on all the posts at intersections of the trail. We flagged the trails with different colors so you can tell which trail you are on, put up more posts and directional signs and we'll have maps at the north and south trailheads so they can take them on the trail..."

The map depicts five snowshoe/hike routes in red, blue, green, purple and yellow. Hansen says the signage will make it easier for users to find their way around the trails. The Washburn Trail system and associated Perch Lake Park and shelter provide hiking, mountain biking,cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails, all non-motorized opportunities. Rhinelander Area Trails Association takes care of the trails in cooperation with Oneida county.
