High Speed Chase Results In Fatal Crash Near Rhinelander

en.wikipedia.org

A 27 year old man has died after a high speed chase ended with a crash just outside the Rhinelander city limits in the town of Newbold.

Rhinelander Police Chief Michael Steffes says Monday evening an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Davenport Street. Steffes says the driver made no attempt to stop for the officer and sped up in an apparent attempt to flee.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of county highway "K" and Forest Loop Road where the suspect's vehicle left the road and stopped in the ditch. The man died at the scene of the accident.

Several law enforcement departments are involved in the investigation, including the Oneida County Medical Examiner. Chief Steffes asks the public to call them if they have any more information on the incident. Callers can remain anonymous.

The name of the victim will be released when relatives are notified.
