Ironwood Man Jailed For Child Enticement

An Ironwood man has been sentenced for child enticement in Oneida County Circuit Court.

25 year old Benjamin Lahti has been sentenced for child enticement.  Judge Michael Bloom placed Lahti on 5 years probation.  As a condition of that probation Lahti is to serve 1 year in county jail, register as a sex offender, undergo treatment, provide a DNA sample, maintain employment and pay all court costs.   Lahti pleaded no contest to the charge of child enticement on September 19.

According to the complaint, last March  posted an ad looking for a sexual encounter.  Undercover officers responded to Lahti’s ad, posing as a 15-year-old girl.  According to the complaint, Lahti sent sexually explicit messages and a graphic photo to the girl.   Lahti traveled more than an hour, from Michigan to Minocqua, where instead of meeting a child, he was arrested.

The investigation was conducted by the Door County Sheriff’s Department, Minocqua Police Department, Oneida and Price County Sheriff’s Departments and the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
