Jeans For Teens Doubles Last Year's Donations, RHS Mock Trial Victory

WXPR

A great community response means more clothing for the needy.

The Rhinelander High School chapter of FBLA/DECA launched the fourth annual "Jeans For Teens" effort in December, asking the public to donate unneeded blue jeans for donation.

Club spokesperson Abigail Krueger, said they had 11 drop off locations for the drive which ended on January 5....

"....it was awesome, we had a total of 609 pairs of jeans donated throughout the course of the project. It was an immense success and we're very pleased...."

That total is double the 300 pairs donated to Frederick Place homeless shelter last year. Krueger thanked the community....

"....we look forward to next year, so save your jeans as we will be doing it again. It was an immense success and we were really grateful that we had the opportunity to donate and give back to the community that supports us in so many ways with our competition, community service and social activity endeavors...."

Also from Rhinelander High School, the Mock Trial team competed Saturday in a tournament in Green Bay, taking home first place honors and an award for “Best Attorney”. Fourteen teams competed in the tournament, including Lakeland Union High School and D.C. Everest from this region. Next up for the RHS teams is the Regional Tournament at the Marathon County Courthouse in Wausau on Saturday, February 10. Last year, RHS broke its own state record by winning its 31st consecutive regional championship.
