Judge Delays Decision On Wolf Change Of Venue

Oneida County Sheriff's Department

Oneida County Circuit Judge Michael Bloom has delayed a decision whether to allow a change of venue for a Rhinelander man charged with first-degree homicide.

40 year old Shannon Wolf is charged in the 2003 death of Kenneth Wells. Wells body was found floating in the Wisconsin River at Rhinelander. Initially ruled as undetermined, the death was later ruled to be homicide after an eyewitness came forward with more information. That led to charges against both Shannon Wolf, and his ex-wife Latoya. Latoya Wolf provided police with more information that led to Shannon Wolf's arrest.

Defense Attorney Maggie Hogan asked for a change of venue for Shannon Wolf's trial, citing pre-trial publicity tainting a jury pool here. Judge Bloom said he would not rule at this time, but take the motion under advisement until the jury process begins.

Wolf was in prison for an alleged assualt on Latoya Wolf three years ago when the new charge was filed. Another motion will be heard next month.
