Lac du Flambeau organizations get U.S. Business Development Money

Two Lac du Flambeau based organizations have received large federal grants to spur on new business.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reports the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council and Northwoods Niijii 

  Enterprise Community each were awarded $99,000. The Great Lakes Intertribal grant is for technical assistance to Native American business owners in eight Wisconsin Tribes. The Northwoods Niijii grant provides technical assistant to Native American artists owning small businesses in three Wisconsin tribes.

U.S.D.A. State Director of Rural Development Stan Gruszynski says the money will be used at the grass-roots level...

"....we're really pleased to see tax dollars returned to Wisconsin. It will make a difference in terms of the health and viability of communities where it is needed the most...."

Since 2010, USDA Rural Development has invested more than $3.5 billion on public facilities, small and emerging businesses, water and sewer systems and housing in rural Wisconsin.
